HONG KONG - 21 February 2023 – HKmediaEx was honored to present in the HKAES International Bay Area Summit 2023, an international summit organized by the Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Sciences and supported by Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Fund, aiming to explore ways of sustainable development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).
Under the theme of "Innovation, Technology, Entrepreneurship, and Ecosystems," the two-day International Bay Area Summit 2023 was held to explore development opportunities and cooperation among different Bay Area economies.
More than 200 experts, scholars and representatives from universities and research institutions in the mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and other Bay Area cities overseas joined the discussions.
Vice-Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Leung Chun-ying: Hong Kong needs to have strategies to prioritize its “finite” resources when integrating with mainland cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Hong Kong should leverage its proximity and sectoral development to establish a forward base in a specific city in Guangdong province, rather than distribute resources across all of them. Hong Kong's resources are limited and by concentrating its efforts on one city, the city can “sharpen skills, build networks and create a critical mass for greater engagement with all the Greater Bay Area cities in the future” (集中力量辦大事).
Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu: Earlier this month, Hong Kong launched the "Hello Hong Kong" Campaign to tell the world that Hong Kong is now seamlessly connected to the Mainland of China and the whole world. Under the principle of “one country, two systems”, Hong Kong enjoys the unparalleled advantage of having the strong support of the nation while maintaining international connectivity. A steering committee has been established to strengthen the modular integrated construction supply chain and foster collaboration with a manufacturing base in the Greater Bay Area. With the support of the National 14th Five-Year Plan, Hong Kong is determined to develop into an international innovation and technology entre. This is set to open new doors for Hong Kong to synergize with other GBA cities and the whole wide world.
Deputy Director of Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Hong Kong Lu Xin-ning: GBA should become a model of high-level opening up in the new era. It is necessary for Hong Kong to play an important role in promoting the dual circulation, implementing a higher level of opening up, and shifting from promoting core elements circulation opening to rules, regulations, management, standards and other system-based openings.
President of Chinese Academy of Engineering Li Xiao-hong: The tide of scientific and technological innovation in the world is surging forward, and the new generation of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation are advancing by leaps and bounds. An engineering technological innovation can accelerate the birth of an industry and can influence and even change the world.
Professor of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Li Ze-xiang: the key for integration of production, education and research is to understand the market pain points and demand, and to use the standards of the market and entrepreneurship to evaluate teaching and research quality.
Founder and CEO of HKmediaEx Lewis Wan: Starting from 2021, the market has been gripped by the concept of metaverse with numerous metaverse-themed projects and capital flooding in. When standards for metaverse hardware and software have not yet been fixed, content should be the king and therefore national-policy-supported cultural industry is expected to be a key beneficiary. Hong Kong established a new bureau to coordinate the overall culture development and amended the copyright legislation to position itself as a pivot gateway helping Chinese culture go-global, making Chinese culture a winning racetrack with high certainty.
