On 14 October 2022, Lewis Wan, Founder and CEO of HKmediaEx, was invited to deliver a speech, titled “My Way from HKUST to Big 4 and then Entrepreneur”, to MSc in Finance students of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
Lewis shared his career story from a HKUST graduate to an auditor of PricewaterhouseCoopers, a Fund Manager of Marco Polo Investments and HKFAEx Group and then the Chairman of Nasdaq listed Oriental Culture.
“Success has never been easy!”, Lewis said. “Recognition is the single most important element in winning the financial services market. If you don’t have a strong family background, your only way to get recognition is through your qualification, professionalism, and market endorsement.”
As to the reasons on setting up HKmediaEx, “ I want to do something with an impact to Hong Kong, the city I grow up”, Lewis said. “As we all know, the government has determined to build eight centers to support the long-term growth of Hong Kong, including the construction of the East-meets-West Center for International Cultural Exchange and Regional Intellectual Property Trading Center. We want to be relevant in the construction of these two centers.”
Lewis concluded his speech by saying, “Those who can work proactively while waiting will have everything, which is not only the wisdom of the great inventor, Thomas Edison, but also the belief that drives us forward.”
